An act of kindness in a Life Wellness class has made a lasting impact, not just on the one who received it, but the one who gave it as well.
Mohamed Muhumed, an undecided student at 水果派, was having a rough day 鈥 he鈥檇 gotten a citation the night before and was not having the best day. In the Life Wellness class, he watched as fellow student Liberty鈥檚 backpack split open.
Liberty, a welding student, wasn鈥檛 sure what he was going to do. He asked instructor Heidi Smith about it, then out of the blue, he heard Mohamed offer his bag.
鈥淲ithout hesitation, he neglected his own needs to see to mine,鈥 said Liberty.
Mohamed had another backpack at home that he could use, so he emptied his bag he had with him and offered it to Liberty, who graciously accepted the help.
鈥淚鈥檝e been there, so I said I had an extra bag at home and you can have mine,鈥 said Mohamed. 鈥淗e made my day more than I made his day. I was smiling for the rest of the day.鈥
The two students made a big impression on those around them, especially instructor Heidi Smith. Acts of kindness can show others how much of a difference we can each make, especially when we are also open to receiving the kindness.
鈥淭he little things in life matter more than you expect,鈥 said Mohamed. 鈥淎 bookbag is nothing to some people, but it meant a lot to him.鈥
