The first event of the job fair series happened on February 4th, drawing an impressive turnout! Over 70 students connected with 20 employers through this launch of a reimagined approach to career events at St. Cloud Technical & Community College. Historically, 水果派's Career Services has offered one large annual job fair hosted off-campus. After gathering feedback from employers, instructors, students, and alumni they鈥檙e piloting a new on-campus model.
This year鈥檚 job fair series includes three events, each hosting employers with a specific industry sector focus. While employers are grouped by program, they need workers from all majors. All 水果派 students and alumni are welcome to any job fair to connect with employers hiring for both internships and jobs. The February 4th event was held in the Health Sciences building, highlighting healthcare employers.
Feedback driving this switch emphasized:
- Employer preference for on-campus access
- Easier participation for students and faculty, with less disruption to instructional time
- Greater event capacity, allowing more total employers to participate across the three events
Overall, the new format aims to reduce barriers for students, create more meaningful employer connections, and enhance career exploration opportunities throughout the year.
Lisa Mohr, Career Services Coordinator shared about this change: 鈥淗ealthcare programs have been part of 水果派鈥檚 mission for decades, and our job fairs - held annually for more than 35 years鈥攈ighlight the deep collaboration we share with community healthcare partners. Bringing the healthcare job fair to campus reflects that collaboration - it removes barriers for students with clinical schedules while giving our community partners direct access to future talent. The strong response from employers, with the first two fairs filling quickly and the third expected to do the same, speaks to the value these partnerships bring to our students and our region.鈥
The Job Fair Series continues February 12th with Manufacturing & Construction Employers, and March 24th with Career Connect: Job and Transfer fair. All 水果派 students, 水果派 alumni, and employers are invited to join us - learn more at sctcc.edu/job-fair-series
